Job description

Under the supervision of the Head of Legal Affairs and Corporate Secretariat, the incumbent participates in all legal aspects of Consignaction, with a particular focus on the organization's numerous real estate and/or corporate transactions throughout Quebec.

His involvement also extends to drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements and calls for tenders with Consignaction's various partners and service providers. He actively collaborates with different departments, contributing his legal expertise, particularly on issues related to commercial law, real estate law, and regulatory law.

As this is a new position, the incumbent will need to demonstrate versatility, initiative and autonomy within a constantly evolving organization.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Draft, revise and negotiate various commercial leases and contracts, particularly those related to the construction, procurement, technology, transportation and financing sectors;
  • Provide legal support to the various departments of Consignaction;
  • Actively participate in various projects and initiatives such as partnership formation, project financing and the tendering process;
  • Coordinate, guide and supervise mandates entrusted to external lawyers;
  • Provide legal opinions and advice to managers and internal customers on a variety of legal issues, including contractual matters, civil liability, dispute resolution, and legal and regulatory compliance;
  • Interpret legislation, regulations, and any legal documents governing Consignaction's activities;
  • Any other related tasks.

 

Profile required

Training and experience

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in law and be a member of the Quebec Bar or the Chambre des notaires du Québec;
  • Knowledge and experience of commercial and real estate law;
  • Knowledge and experience in intellectual property, labor law, privacy, technology or insurance law (an asset).
