Full job description

Under the supervision of the Network Director and in collaboration with the Director of Operations for the West Sector, the Director of Operations will be responsible for the operational and strategic management of return sites within their territory, which covers the South Shore of Montreal. Working closely with the organization's various entities, the Director of Operations identifies any activity or initiative likely to impact operations. They coordinate and manage a team of territory supervisors.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Lead and provide guidance to a team of territory supervisors and indirectly, front-line employees: returns advisors and day laborers;
  • Work closely with head office to ensure a strong team is present in all areas return sites ;
  • Analyze current operations, provide innovative solutions, optimize operations, ensure that service delivery is exemplary and in accordance with internal policies and procedures;
  • Develop and implement an operational plan that integrates goals and objectives contributing to the strategic direction of the organization;
  • Monitor the daily implementation of the organization's programs and services;
  • Establish a positive and safe work environment;
  • Implement a performance management process for all staff;
  • Support and coach staff, as appropriate, to improve performance;
  • Implement the various health and safety programs, in conjunction with human resources;
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure that the return sites have the appropriate tools to achieve their goals;
  • Monitor and analyze all opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement;
  • Produce and analyze reports for various internal collaborators, including the finance department;
  • Control operational budgets and expenses of each return site ;
  • Ensure the integration of new supervisors;
  • Ensure compliance with defined operational standards in each service area, as well as interior and exterior maintenance requirements;
  • Assist territory supervisors as needed.
  • In collaboration with human resources, set up and supervise the Good Understanding Committee (upcoming project)

 

Training

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Post-secondary diploma or four (4) years of professional experience directly related to the subject.

Experience and knowledge

  • Four (4) years of leadership experience in multi-site management;
  • Experience in the retail or restaurant industry;
  • Proficiency in advanced Excel functions;
  • Have good listening skills and a good analytical mind;
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good skills in managing conflicting and changing priorities and good organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and critical thinking skills.
  • Available to travel anywhere in the territory
  • Bilingual (English/French)

 

Requirement : Valid driver's license at all times

Job Location : Hybrid telework in Montreal, Quebec and frequent travel within return sites on its territory

 

Who are we ?

The Quebec Beverage Container Recycling Association (QBCRA) is the designated management organization (DMO) for the development, implementation, financing and management of the deposit-refund system, which has been modernized according to the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) principle. It brings together the various beverage producers involved in the recovery, reuse, recycling and reclamation of beverage containers in the province of Quebec.
