QBCRA responds to unionization efforts at some of its return sites

 

MONTREAL,November 20, 2025 – The Quebec Beverage Container Recycling Association (QBCRA)/Consignaction has been informed of unionization efforts undertaken by employees at certain return sites its network, notably in Shawinigan.

Employees working at return sites competitive working conditions, a salary structure in line with industry standards, and benefits, including a group insurance plan.QBCRA respects the wishes of the approximately 75 workers who have chosen to unionize and will work with their representatives in accordance with the legal framework in force.

The organization ensures consistent management of operations at its 111 return sites in Quebec, while maintaining a structured and equitable work environment. It remains committed to supporting all its teams and providing a safe, respectful workplace.

The network's activities are proceeding as normal, andQBCRA is continuing its mission: to modernize and manage the deposit-refund system, provide an accessible and efficient recovery infrastructure, and support the recycling and reuse of redeemable containers part of the ongoing modernization process.
