MONTREAL, March 3, 2025 – The Quebec Beverage Container Recycling Association (QBCRA)/Consignaction is delighted with the successful launch of the expansion of the deposit-refund system deposit-refund plastic beverage containers.

"As early as Saturday, we observed an impressive mobilization of Quebecers, who embraced this new phase with enthusiasm and commitment. Thanks to rigorous organization, the return of containers went smoothly, both at retailers and at the Consignaction return sites ," noted Normand Bisson, President and CEO of the AQRCB.

TheQBCRA teamQBCRA on hand to provide support to participating retailers.QBCRA alsoQBCRA up a dedicated hotline for retailers. This hotline remains available, and theQBCRA teamQBCRA ready to respond quickly if needed.

Another positive point: the low rate of container rejection by recycling machines. This reflects the meticulous work carried out upstream to ensure the systems are updated and guarantee a seamless experience for citizens.

"We remain attentive to the evolution of the process and will continue our efforts to optimize this major transition. Nevertheless, this first weekend gives us confidence for what comes next: the modernization of the deposit-refund is well underway and Quebecers are there!” concluded Mr. Bisson.
