For eco-friendly schoolchildren

Thousands of students across the province participated in the Consignaction Tour this fall, a school activity featuring workshops and games that promote physical activity, healthy eating, cultural diversity, and environmental awareness.

As part of the latter, young people are made aware of the benefits of redeemable containers recovery. In particular, they learn how to recognize containers that are currently under deposit-refund and the ecological reasons why it is important to return them to a drop-off point.

"Young people have fun while integrating strong environmental values. We find that the majority don't know that the containers they bring back are 100% recycled," explains Sophie Boissonneault, Communications Manager. "The beauty of it is that they bring home the fruit of their teaching and raise awareness among other family members."

It is estimated that approximately 400,000 schoolchildren have participated in the Consignaction Tour since its inception in 2010.
