Full job description

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Health and Safety Advisor is responsible for implementing the health and safety program and strategy at Consignaction's various sites. The incumbent is responsible for promoting and supporting operations teams in providing a safe environment for employees.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Participate in the development of the health and safety program;
  • Person in charge of liaison officers at the various sites and head of the OHS committee;
  • Coach and support operations teams to develop an accident prevention culture;
  • Ensure consistent delivery of the health and safety program, including the implementation of policies, programs and processes to report on and improve existing occupational health and safety practices and investigations;
  • Support the organization in the exercise of best practices in health and safety;
  • Ensure compliance of premises in terms of first aiders, material safety data sheets, forklifts, etc.
  • Analyze branch risks, ensuring that a safety program is in place; identify incident trends to develop and implement prevention solutions;
  • Work with managers and supervisors to implement corrective measures;
  • Work in partnership with the site manager to ensure compliance with provincial health and safety regulatory requirements, as well as suspicious activities and incidents;
  • Ensure implementation of the communication plan and share best practices across all departments;
  • Create health and safety performance indicators and develop a regional plan with operational teams to improve them.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent field and related professional certification;
  • Minimum of 3 years in a health and safety management capacity, preferably in a multi-site context;
  • Knowledge of current health and safety practices;
  • Experience enabling organizations to adapt quickly to changing circumstances that could have an impact on health and safety;
  • An innovative mindset, constantly on the lookout for new technologies and practices;
  • Driver's license valid at all times and available for travel anywhere in the country.

Who are we ?

The Quebec Beverage Container Recycling Association (QBCRA) is the designated management organization (DMO) for the development, implementation, financing and management of the deposit-refund system, which has been modernized according to the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) principle. It brings together the various beverage producers involved in the recovery, reuse, recycling and reclamation of beverage containers in the province of Quebec.
